Against A Ban on Affirmative Action

Nebraskans United is a group of concerned citizens devoted to protectingNebraska's Constitution from unnecessary outside attacks. We are also committed to promoting equality, fairness, and diversity in the state of Nebraska. Nebraska business groups, educational instituions, faith groups, grassroots organizations, and individual citizens are part of our team.

Right now in Nebraska, there is a group of paid signature gathers propped up by well financed, out-of- state political groups trying to amend Nebraska’s Constitution with their deceptive tactics and radical agenda.

An Update:

July 3, 2008

The Nebraska Civil Rights Initiative today announced that it had submitted 167,000 signatures to the Nebraska Secretary of State.

In response Campaign Director David Kramer said, "There is a significant difference between submitted signatures and valid signatures. Given the fraudulent and illegal tactics used to gather signatures which we have previously documented, we are not surprised by this news in the least. Nebraskans United looks forward to the validation process by Secretary of State John Gale, the County Clerks and Election Commissioners across the state."

We at Nebraskans United want to thank you all again for your countless hours of hard work and generous contributions. We will continue to keep you updated as we move into the next phases of the campaign.

We at Nebraskans United want to start by saying.... THANK YOU.

Your volunteer assistance has been critical as we have been battling this dangerous petition- funded by out of state interests- that seeks to deny our neighbors equal opportunities.

THE PETITION SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS JULY 4 at 5:00 pm Just 2 days away!

We have received reports that our opposition is literally scrambling and desperate to get enough signatures to qualify and we know they will stop at nothing to gather signatures in this final push. Hundreds and thousands of Nebraska voters will be out and about at upcoming community festivals on July 3rd and 4th to celebrate our Independence. If we can garner enough educators and volunteers this week to help us monitor the opposition and educate voters we can be successful. Success is truly within our grasp but we can not be complacent because it is our opposition's last best chance to gather thousands of signatures and make the ballot. If you want to help protect and celebrate democracy this 4th of July-GET INVOLVED! Call Danielle at 402-432-3394 to volunteer.

On a final note, we are receiving reports of circulators disobeying direct instructions from private property owners to leave their premises and to stop harassing their customers, especially late at night at grocery stores. Sadly, the circulators are disobeying local merchants and or hiding in parking lots trying to get signatures. If you see or hear about any of this activity please make a complaint to store management and remind them the Attorney General has ruled circulators must leave private property if asked or face trespass charges.

Dear Friends-

Last night KETV Channel 7 news broke an undercover story about the misleading tactics our opposition is utilizing to get people to sign the so called "Civil Rights Initiative". They even caught on camera a paid circulator deceiving an African American woman into signing the petition. Thankfully she was informed in time to get her name removed. We know there are others in our communities who have been deceived as well. We need your help to spread the word and help our neighbors who have been deceived take positive action.

Please direct anyone who may have been mislead into signing this dangerous petition to our website to receive instructions and forms to help them remove their signature.
